and finally, a suburban panorama. i liked this one when i took it, but even more when i cropped it into panorama.

cookie-cutter houses
i'm terrified of the suburbs. but there is something hauntingly beautiful about them. my best friend lives up in one of the bigger ones, and i took pictures at his house the other day. a bunch of us were frolicking around, and we noticed the sunset over suburbia. beautiful. here's some pictures.

bird in a cage on a wall
finally finished my wall mural yesterday! a friend of mine helped me draw and paint it. i think we were both surprised and excited about how it turned out - three different styles seem to mesh into one. the cage is kind of watercolour-y, while the buildings seem very cartoonish and the foliage is very sketch-like. kind of surreal, put together. here's a picture! (yes, my walls are very green.)

goldfinger(s)
i'm currently in the midst of creating a mural on the wall in my room, which is kind of fun. (will probably post pictures when it's finished.) in the process, however, one of my rather temperamental paint pens exploded and spewed gold paint (luckily) all over some paper on my desk. of course, i decided it'd be a good idea to dip my finger in it, and the result was pretty crazy. i had golden fingerprints! so obviously i took a picture (this is how my mind works, apparently. look! a mess! let's make it messier! and take pictures!), which was a slightly difficult operation, given that it was one-handed. anyway, i finangled two pictures. here they are.
(side note: am definitely tempted to plan a photo shoot that revolves around gold fingerprints. hopefully i can find someone willing to go along with my wacky ideas...)

down from above
being a short person, i rarely get to look down on things. now, i don't mean look down on things in the snarky 'better than you' way, i literally mean it as i'm too short to generally look upon things from above. this being said, it's probably the reason i find bird's eye perspective so fascinating. i don't have many pictures taken like this because they're a) generally boring, composition-wise and b) see first sentence, but here is one of my favourites i found from a trip i took to los angeles last year:

musicality
as well as being fairly obsessed with photography, i spend a lot of my time listening and generally obsessing over music. about a month ago i got the opportunity to mix the two passions of mine and take pictures for a charity concert that a couple of my friends organized. i got to take pictures of some fabulous bands, but my favourite pictures were of the boreal sons (first two pictures) and reuben bullock (last three pictures). now, this isn't a music blog, so i'll refrain from discussing in depth how awesome they are, but you should really go check out their music here and here. they are such passionate and interesting performers and i tried to capture that in my photography. here are my favourites from that night:

oot 'n aboot
went downtown with a friend of mine the other day; found a discarded green velvet armchair beside a dumpster and it was the perfect photo subject. i kind of fell in love with it (yeah i fell in love with an old armchair, got a problem?) so my friend and i took a bunch of pictures of it. also the snow was melting quite nicely so there were plenty of puddles around for me to take reflective pictures in! as well, there are some general downtown frolicking pictures. here goes:

film (again)
so remember how i mentioned that i found a bunch of film on my desk and was going to get it developed? (if you didn't remember, well, now you're up to speed.) i went and picked it up today and was pleasantly surprised! the three colour rolls were all from last summer's trip to israel and italy, so these pictures were all taken in jerusalem and rome. enjoy!
